President Howard Wilson presented his core values for Ambrose University College during President’s Day, August 24. He said that "Ambrose is all about Jesus ... Ambrose is all about students."
In addressing the faculty and staff, he said, "JESUS Christ, Lord of the Universe, Savior of the world is at the HEART OF ALL WE DO. This is what sets us apart from most of the world of higher education. We are committed to educating students who will be leaders in the church and in the world. We are more than a secular school with a Christian veneer. Ambrose is a thorough-going Christian college and seminary. We teach arts and science, theology, and ministry as if it mattered to God and for God. We are a school that:
* Believes that all truth comes from God and that all of creation belongs to God.
* Demands excellence in everything we do, since we are made in the image of God.
* Seeks to integrate its Christian faith into everything we do.
* Is not afraid to contend for our faith in the marketplace of ideas.
* Seeks to develop a Christian worldview within our students that will help them to analyze their world and make ethical decisions with integrity."
He then emphasized that Ambrose is all about students. "At Ambrose - STUDENTS REALLY MATTER. Students are the reason we come to work each day, and they are the reason Ambrose was founded.
* Students matter to Jesus, and they matter to us.
* Students are entrusted to us at a crucial place in their lives, when they are beginning to make their own decisions; a responsibility we take seriously.
* Students are looking for mentors who will model the mature Christian life for them.
* Students are formed spiritually in the classroom, residence, gym, library and the chapel."
President Wilson believes that Ambrose faculty and staff are seeking to honour Jesus as they educate students to serve and lead in the church and the world.
